Metrology - Savvy OpticsProduct Conformity is assured by methodically exercising the use of our vast range of test and inspection equipment throughout the manufacturing process. Examples of the standard metrology employed at II-VI Optical Systems are:

  • Interferometers
  • Profilometers
  • Autocollimators
  • Spectrophotometers
  • 2D optical comparator
  • Microscopes
  • Precision drop gages
  • Caliper/micrometer

Some of the more advanced metrology we employ are:

State-of-the-art retardance metrology developed at II-VI Optical Systems is utilized specifically for the evaluation of quartz waveplates. The systems used during the manufacturing process (in-process QA) as well as during the final QA employ laser sources (632.8nm, 1064nm, 1550nm), motorized stages and controllers, built-in temperature compensation and custom designed data acquisition and analysis software.

Savvy Inspector

[1] The SavvyInspector™ model SIF-4 provides software assisted scratch/dig evaluation of flat optical surfaces, eliminating the subjectivity of human surface quality inspection. The instrument is designed specifically to reproduce the conditions of an in-reflection visual inspection described in Appendix C of MIL-PRF-13830B, “General specification governing the manufacture, assembly, and inspection of optical components for fire control instruments.”
